The 2006 Promoting Safe and Stable Families’ “Safe Families Symposium” drew 350 attendees to Atlanta on March 9 and 10 for the annual event, held this year at the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel.
The Symposium provides child welfare professionals with training and professional development opportunities. Attendees included PSSF service providers, county DFCS staff and DHR personnel.
Topics and speakers in the 2006 Symposium covered key areas of interest, including Engagement, Assessment, Family Case Planning, Service Delivery and Coordination, Monitoring and Evaluation, Program Development and Staff Development. Timely issues, such as recognizing the signs and symptoms of methamphetamine use, cultural diversity and domestic violence, and grandparents raising grandchildren were among the more than 25 sessions offered.
During the event, an Awards Dinner recognized outstanding contributions to child welfare in Georgia by agencies and individuals in the PSSF Network and attendees celebrated PSSF’s 10th Anniversary in Georgia.
