About the Training
Because of their histories of trauma and family problems, many of the children and youth served within child welfare placements have gaps in development and skills that surface as emotional and behavioral problems. This workshop focuses on the purposeful use of therapeutic discipline and motivational strategies to help youths in care learn responsibility and age appropriate coping and social skills. Participants will review the stages of child development, theories of motivation, behavior change and learn specific strength-based interventions and competency-base consequences that can be utilized in their work with challenging youth.
