About the Training
Working in the minefields and bureaucracies of child welfare can not only be exhausting but trigger some of our own issues. Burnout and compassion fatigue- or secondary PTSD- are common in fields for professionals and caregivers who work with children and families impacted by trauma and complex needs. Participants will learn about these two phenomena, how to identify personal risks, red flags and who is most vulnerable. Focus will be on utilizing self care strategies not only to survive but thrive and maintain balance between one's personal and professional life. Participants should wear comfortable clothing. This workshop is for case managers, supervisors, child care and juvenile justice workers, therapists, foster and adoptive parents and mentors.
