You may or may not know that the Department of Community Affairs manages public housing in 149 counties throughout the state. Fulton and DeKalb have their own housing authority, but the there are some websites that can be used to locate housing anywhere in Georgia, including Fulton & DeKalb.
If a client has a section VIII voucher, the individual can go to GeorgiaHousingSearch.Org and put in the individual needs and desired location, and the web site will provide a listing of available properties for rent. The Georgia Housing Search website provides the central bridge needed to match individuals and families seeking affordable rental housing options with units available for rent in the marketplace. Landlords and owners of rental properties can advertise the availability of units free of charge and can highlight important features about their properties, including rent ranges, bedrooms, accessibility features, access to public transportation and other amenities. Families seeking housing can search this database based on their family's needs, preview each property and directly contact the property manager/owner through a convenient email link.
Additionally, the DCA web site is available for individual use at
www.dca.state.ga.us.
DCA can help individuals through a very comprehensive set of programs and services that include Home ownership, Rental Housing, Special Needs and Emergency Shelters, and a Landlord Tenant Hotline and Handbook. The Georgia Landlord-Tenant Hotline is 1-800-369-4706. The handbook can be
